Hungary travel brochure (National Council of Tourist Traffic, Budapest, c. 1939). Artist: György Konecsni. Printed by Pallas, Budapest.

Köszönöm a pontosítást!!

Greek mythology meme: [3/3] mortals
↳ Ariadne

Ariadne was the daughter of king Minos of Crete and the sister of the Minotaur. She was tasked with keeping the Labyrinth in order and assuring the human sacrifices from Athens would be properly delivered to her brother. However, she fell in love with the Athenian hero Theseus, who eventually showed up in Crete as one of the intended sacrifices to end the terror reign of the Minotaur. Ariadne helped Theseus by giving him a ball of yarn to help the hero orient in the labyrinth. After killing the Minotaur, Theseus took Ariadne with him when he started homeward. However, soon he abandoned her on the island of Naxos, where she was found by the god Dionysus. In the end, Ariadne went with Dionysus to Mount Olympos to live there together as husband and wife.
